Stitched Stories: Embroidered Patchmaking
November 14
6 - 8 PM
PBS Utah - 101 South Wasatch Drive Salt Lake City, UT 84112
Inspired by Ken Burns’ upcoming PBS documentary THE AMERICAN REVOLUTION, this hands-on, 2-hour craft workshop invites you to connect with history through embroidery at the PBS Utah Studio.
Join Indigenous artist Jessica Wiarda to explore how embroidered symbols carried profound stories of heritage, identity, spirit and resilience for Indigenous peoples during the American Revolution. She’ll guide you through the steps to create your own patch that weaves personal meaning with historic inspiration.
You’ll leave with a finished patch, new embroidery skills, the confidence to keep crafting your own designs and a deeper appreciation for the lesser known stories of this era.
Perfect for creatives, storytellers and anyone interested in exploring the cultural meaning and identity behind embroidered symbols.
