Fox in Socks - Review

Review by Elise.

I remember the day that I learned to read, just like it was yesterday. I was at daycare after kindergarten, and was determined to read Fox in Socks by Dr. Seuss. I LOVE Dr. Seuss books, and had memorized many of his books.

I had the first couple pages of Fox in Socks memorized, but I couldn’t get passed the page about tricks and blocks. I knew if I broke the “code” of reading, that I could finish the book. I started to sound the words out, and finally read the page:

“Look, sir. Look, sir. Mr. Knox, sir.

Let's do tricks with bricks and blocks, sir.

Let's do tricks with chicks and clocks, sir.”

By the time my mom picked me up from daycare, I was able to read the whole book all on my own!

Do you remember the first book you could read?
