Missy's Jewel Magnets

Hey, It's Missy again! One fun fact about me is that I always have to-do lists. I also have old birthday cards and photos that I saved to look at and the perfect place to put them is on my refrigerator. The problem is, I quickly run out of magnets! So I decided to make my own. These magnets are simple to make and you can get most of the supplies from the dollar store.

Jewel Magnets

  • Old magazines
  • Scissors
  • One penny
  • Pencil
  • Mod-Podge glue
  • Paintbrush
  • Hot glue gun (or any glue)
  • Glass jewels (the kind meant for flower vases)
  • Magnet blanks

  1. Look through your old magazines and find tiny pictures that you'd like to use as magnets.
  2. Lay your penny over the picture and gently trace it with a pencil.
  3. Cut out the circle you drew around the picture.
  4. Take your paint brush and get a tiny bit of Mod-Podge glue on it. Paint the glue on the front side of your picture.
  5. Stick the picture to the flat side of the jewel.
  6. Lay it flat, while it dries.
  7. Once the glue is dry, use your hot glue gun (or any glue, it just takes longer to dry) and put a dab of glue on one side of the magnet.
  8. Stick it to the back side of your picture.

You can make as many magnets as you want. They can go other places than just the fridge too. Go around the house and find places where your magnets will and will not stick. These make fun presents for friends and family during the holidays. Most importantly, have fun!
