Origami Pumpkins

Hi! It's guest blogger Missy here. It's finally Fall. This means the temperatures will get cooler and the leaves will be falling off the trees soon. It's also time for spiced cider, witches, and pumpkins. To get into the Fall spirit, I thought it would be fun to make some origami pumpkins to decorate your bedroom.

Supplies:

  • Orange and green origami paper (any paper cut into a square will work)
  • Black marker

Instructions (use diagram):

  1. Fold a sheet of paper in half.
  2. Fold it in half again, hamburger style.
  3. Open the flap where the arrow is.
  4. Flatten the space.
  5. Turn it over.
  6. Open the flap where the arrow is (shown on diagram) like you did in the previous step.
  7. Fold inward on the dotted lines to meet the center line.
  8. Turn it over. Fold inward on the dotted lines to the meet the center line like you did in the previous step.
  9. Fold inward on dotted lines.
  10. Turn it over. Fold inward on dotted lines like you did in step 9.
  11. Tuck the flaps into the pockets. Repeat on the back.
  12. Blow up using the little hole at which the arrow is pointing.
  13. Rip a small piece of green paper, crinkle it up and stick it into the hole or glue it to the top.
  14. Use your marker to draw a Jack-O-Lantern face.

Wrap Up:

Now you have a cute little pumpkin. Make as many as you would like. Feel free to make pumpkins in different colors. You can get creative and draw all sorts of faces, or use different size squares of papers to make pumpkins in all shapes and sizes. Most importantly, have fun!!
