Winter Paper Chain

Hello! My name is Missy, and I’m an artist and guest blogger. My favorite season is summer. I like to be warm. I like to go swimming. I like to wear shorts. When I think about it there are tons of things I love about winter, too. I thought it would be fun to make a paper chain that reminds me all the reasons I love winter!
Winter Paper Chain
Supplies:
- 4+ colorful papers (cardstock, construction paper, or scrapbook paper)
- Stapler
- Pencil or pen
- Ruler
- Scissors
Instructions:
- Using a ruler and pencil/pen, mark every inch along both long sides of each paper.
- Using the ruler as a straight edge, draw a line connecting the first inch marks across the paper. Repeat for each inch mark.
- Use your scissors to cut along each line, cutting the papers into strips.
- On each strip, write a reason you love winter (sledding, hot cocoa, making snowmen, etc).
- Form one strip into a loop, overlapping the ends about an inch.
- Staple the strip where the ends overlap.
- Take another strip and poke it through the first loop. Make this strip into a loop just like you did the first one. Staple it.
- Continue linking the strips together to form a long chain.
- Make the chain as long as desired.
Now that I have written all those reasons I like winter, I realize I might like winter more than summer! You can use your Winter Chain to decorate your bedroom or your Christmas tree. When you look at it, you can remember all the great things about this season!
