KUED to Add Create Channel

Create, the premiere channel for how-to programming, comes to KUED beginning January 1, becoming the station’s fourth channel.  Beginning January 1, 2018, the channel will now be available over the air on KUED 7.4 and remain on Comcast 393, where it’s been part of the KBYU offerings.

“The addition of Create reflects KUED’s mission of promoting life-long learning and providing viewers with ideas and inspiration to enrich their lives,” says KUED General Manager James Morgese. “We’re excited to bring the channel to Utah viewers over the air and on cable.”

“Create has been a much-loved and valuable resource to the Utah community,” says BYU General Manager Michael Dunn. “We’re thrilled that its legacy can continue on KUED as we transition out of PBS.  Our greatest hope in this transition was that viewers not lose Create.”
More often called “do-it-yourself,” the program genres seen on Create include viewers' favorite public television series and specials on cooking, travel, home improvement, gardening, arts and crafts, and other lifestyle interests. Programs on the channel come from American Public Television, The National Educational Telecommunications Association (NETA), and Public Broadcasting Service (PBS).

Create was launched in 2006 to create round-the-clock broadcast of the most popular lifestyle and how-to programming seen on public television – where lifestyle programming got its start. Now in its 11th year, Create annually reaches 46 million viewers nationwide.

On any given day, Create treats home-improvement buffs to This Old House and Rough Cut — Woodworking with Tommy Mac. Food fans will feast on America’s Test Kitchen from Cook’s Illustrated, Lidia's Kitchen, Mexico - One Plate at a Time with Rick Bayless and Jacques Pépin: Heart & Soul. Armchair travelers will find themselves captivated by Globe Trekker and Rick Steves’ Europe. Budding artists and crafters will appreciate The Best of the Joy of Painting With Bob Ross and Knit & Crochet Now.

Every weekend, Create airs themed marathons featuring 12 hand-picked episodes centered on a specific holiday, host, or event. These marathons air Saturday from 6:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and repeat from 6:00 p.m. to 12:00 a.m. and Sunday from 12:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.

Create’s companion website, CreateTV.com, contains schedule information, select projects, tips and recipes, national contests and monthly giveaways, as well as information on Create shows and hosts.
