Missy's Fall Trees

Email share

Hello! My name is Missy. I’m an artist and guest blogger here at PBS Utah. The seasons are changing again! Look outside! Have you noticed the leaves on the trees changing colors? They can turn all sorts of beautiful colors: yellow, orange, red, brown. Some trees stay green all year. I thought it would be fun to create some fall tree artwork.

Supplies

  • White printer paper
  • Assorted colors of construction paper (or cardstock)
  • Glue
  • A black marker
  • Scissors

Instructions

  1. Fold one of your pieces of colored paper in half (this will create two of the same thing). Cut out the shape of a tree. Your tree can be zig-zaggy like a Christmas tree, round, puffy like a cloud, any shape you want.
  2. Take another color and cut a different tree shape. Repeat with each colored paper.
  3. Arrange the trees on your white paper. Put the trees in the back closer to the top of the page and beneath the others. This will make them look further in the distance.
  4. Put the trees in the front closer to the bottom of your page and on top of the other trees. This will make them look closer to you.
  5. Glue down the tree shapes.
  6. Take your black marker and draw a line for each tree trunk. Then be creative about your branches. Make trees that are the same match, and trees that are different not match.

Wrap Up

Now you have a beautiful piece of fall trees artwork. Put it on your fridge or display it in your bedroom. Be creative and have fun!
