American Cowboy and the Disappearing West

What happens when the traditions, landscapes, and ways of life that define the American West begin to change? Inspired by the documentary Land With No Rider, this month's “Shared Stories” event invites you into a thoughtful exploration of the people, places, and values that continue to shape the West and the challenges they face in a rapidly evolving world.
Through film, conversation, music, and poetry, we'll examine the realities facing ranching communities as changing landscapes, environmental pressures, and shifting economies transform life on the land. Together, we'll consider what these changes mean for rural communities, working lands, and the traditions that have long defined the region.
PBS Utah’s Lauren Steinbrecher will moderate a conversation exploring how these themes are unfolding in Utah today with Wade Garrett from the Utah Farm Bureau Federation. Singer/songwriter Brenn Hill will perform along with cowboy poet Darrell Holden, sharing their perspective on the stories, values, and culture of the contemporary West.
Light refreshments will be served.
