Missy's Tube Birds

Email share

Hello everyone! My name is Missy. I’m an artist, blogger and total “bird nerd.” I love birds! I love drawing them, I love seeing them, I love studying them and I love crafting them! Here is a fun way to make a bird out of recycled items.

  1. Have a parent help pinch one end of your toilet paper roll and glue it flat.
  2. Turn the roll 45 degrees and pinch the other end together. Use a pencil to sketch a half circle. This will be the head end.
  3. Use scissors to cut the half circle. Save the scraps.
  4. Cut a small triangle out of the scraps, this will be the beak.
  5. Have a parent help you hot glue along that half circle with the triangle poking out at the midpoint.
  6. Paint the body of the bird whatever color you like. Let the paint dry.
  7. Use a pencil to draw an eye and a wing.
  8. Paint those a different color. You can add spots or stripes or whatever you like.
