Salt Lake City, UT, 11/10/25 — PBS Utah won seven Emmy Awards at the The 2025 Rocky Mountain Regional Emmy® Gala, held on Nov. 8, in Phoenix, AZ. Presented by the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences, the awards recognize outstanding achievements in television across the Rocky Mountain Southwest Chapter.
"It’s a tremendous honor to have our public affairs, history, arts, and cultural programming awarded with so many Emmys this year — especially given the clawback of federal funds this past summer," said Director of Content Lisa Olken. "We are thrilled that The Hinckley Report and Utah Insight won first-time Emmys!"
The following seven programs were awarded in six categories:
Documentary - Historical
Hollywood in Utah — A celebration of Utah’s cinematic centennial and the towns, landscapes, and characters that have made Utah one of America’s most beloved film sets.
Program - Single Program
This is Utah: Legendary — A captivating journey into the world of skiing, figure skating, and basketball, where we encounter remarkable sports figures who have left an indelible mark on Utah and beyond.
Interview / Discussion
The Hinckley Report - Utah and the Politics of Congress — As congressional leaders in Washington, D.C. begin preparing for a new term next year, Utah's representatives are jockeying for important committee assignments. This panel examines how behind-the-scenes maneuvering impacts the work of Congress, and how it benefits Utah voters in the long-run.
Interview / Discussion
Utah Insight - AI and Elections — A new era of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in the media is upon us and lawmakers are grappling with ways to react to the increased prevalence in society. Experts share tips on what Utahns should be on the lookout for during elections.
Arts / Entertainment - Long Form Content
This is Utah: Belonging — Art and culture create a spirit of empowerment, belonging, and acceptance in Utah.
Environment / Science - Short Form Content
Utah's Power Pivot: Goethermal — Overhead powerlines have roots deep in the earth, where geothermal energy is harnessed to create electricity. Beaver County’s FORGE Lab is paving the way for new energy uses, working to keep geothermal generator costs down and return on investments high.
Politics / Government Content
Utah Insight: Election Integrity — A tour of where mail-in ballots are processed, as well as the meticulous systems in place to make sure each vote is counted.
