If you find an object around the house shaped like a circle, a square, or a triangle, make sure to count it!

Hey everyone! My name is Missy and I am an artist and blogger for PBS KIDS Utah. When I used to babysit my nephew, we would go on shape hunts. We would choose a circle, square, rectangle or triangle and walk around the house searching for that shape. We would count as many as we could find. I thought this would be a fun activity for you to try this week.

Supplies:

Print out this coloring page, then see how many different shapes you can find!

Instructions:

  1. Choose a shape on your worksheet to start with.
  2. Walk around your house and search for that shape. Count as many as you can find.
  3. Using your pencil, write the number of how many you found on the line next to the correct shape.
  4. Now hunt for a different shape.
  5. Record the number of each shape you find.
  6. Now use your crayons to color the worksheet.
Once you've counted the number of shapes around the house, write down the number on your coloring page next to the corresponding shape.

Wrap-up:

I bet you didn’t realize you had so many different shapes hiding around your house! If you want to play more, you can search for other shapes: stars, hearts, ovals, diamonds, etc. Be creative and have fun!
